Ding!
A text from the East Coast. What a most modern way to learn, know, and understand that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Notorious RBG, champion of women’s rights and equality, has passed away at age 87.
Did American democracy die this evening, too?
Moscow Mitch is already at it. As I live and type.
That man is trash. Vote Mitch McConnell out, too, this Nov. 3. Register to vote. Request your mail-in ballot and send it back double-pronto, if you simply cannot make it out on Election Day (although, c’mon on, now). Get on board with Amy McGrath, already – everybody, please. The body’s not even cold, and McConnell’s ready to show the world how the rules apply one way for some, and a completely different way for others. Never forget that McConnell absolutely blocked former President Barack Obama’s nomination of centrist jurist Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court of the United States in 2016 (because it was Obama’s last year in office – a completely made-up load o’ crap).
Such a hypocritical racist. You can so do better than that, Kentucky.
McConnell should do well to shut his trap tonight, for RBG was a hero, and he will forever remain a big fat waddly-waddly zero. Alas, such is his white, male privilege.
As only the second woman ever appointed to the highest court in the land in 1993, Justice Ginsburg blazed some trail in spite of the misogynistic American patriarchy, OK. She battled multiple cancers, OK. She stood up for all that she believed was right and in the best interest of the people of this country until she could stand no more, OK. She was liked and admired. She was loved. She was respected.
Of course, McConnell wouldn’t know about respect. So we cannot be surprised he’s pulling this shit.
OMG, indeed. The time for good trouble is right now.
