Tonight, Reuters reported first, that (Republican) Senators blocked an independent and bipartisan commission investigation into the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol, and second, that the United States are sanctioning Belarus over the fraudulent grounding of a dissident-carrying plane back in Minsk earlier this month.
It’s like, America…where do you get off?
If you can, in fact, walk and chew gum at the same time (like, to get no less politified, yet first in line for vaccines, after shitting the bed on the world stage the last four years), then we gotta get it together. We the people. Because we the micro are far more nuanced and complex and with it than the overstuffed macro. We see it, we live it, and we know we could wait forever for Big Government to get its act together, but why would we do such a crazy thing.
We on the ground have to do #DoMore now that the pandemic is winding down – and as it will soon, wherever you are in the world reading this right now – because our narrative can be exponentially that much more rich…er than the story that’s being reported. (Alas, such is life.)
It’s nuts that America’s defense of democracy abroad is so at odds with its entire national situation.
Charity begins at home. Get involved.
Sweep your street.
Check in on your neighbor. Break bread with them; mezclemos la olla. Embracing people for who they are, where they are, takes out of you a fraction of the energy required to…get consumed by them.
By all means, read a book.
And wake up. Because we got this. We just gotta get a little bit more upconscious.
