Today the Supreme Court of the United States surprised again, after it ruled on another eagerly anticipated decision, one concerning the Barack Obama-era DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) American immigration policy, which since summer 2012 has provided close to 700,000 (known) young DREAMers respite from deportation. Swinging toward the correct side of history and justice, conservative Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court’s four liberal judges in the 5-4 majority, while justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh dissented, of course, concurring only with parts of the opinion and leaving the door open to more anti-DACA bullshit, I’m sure.
The capricious, racist regime of one Donald “the Impeached” Trump had been opposing DACA, working to keep the program from expanding and on phase-out mode since 2017 – but, to be clear, for the time being, at least, DREAMers may stay right where they are and where they belong: home…in America.
DREAMers are American. Quit coming for them.
